Riverside Satoyama Living: The 2026 Liugui Good Market Key Visual
Liugui Good Market enters its third year. We carried forward the woodblock print illustration language for the 2026 key visual, compressing local produce, terrain and the market's own hands-on toy props into one A1 poster that keeps series recognition while adding fresh detail for the year.

Challenge
Liugui Good Market is an annual satoyama lifestyle market, and the organizer wanted every year's key visual to keep the woodblock print illustration identity so the event stays recognizable, without looking identical year after year. For 2026 they also asked to add the market's actual wooden toy props, a shooting gallery and a marble game, into the poster, so the visual would reflect what visitors would really see on site, not just mountain and produce imagery.
Goal
Carry forward three years of accumulated woodblock print visual assets and recognition, while updating what needed to change for the year, the event subtitle, venue wording, organizer credits and a new illustrated panel for the toy props, so the poster accurately reflected the 2026 event and its host and co-organizing bodies.

Approach
- Carried the woodblock print illustration style forward as the series' visual foundation, building the key visual grid from local mountain, stream, fruit and flower motifs.
- Working from the client's own on-site photos as reference, redrew the market's actual wooden toy props, a shooting gallery and a marble game, into woodblock print style illustrations and worked them into the key visual grid.
- Revised the event subtitle wording and venue name through several rounds of client feedback, and, while keeping the A1 layout proportions unchanged, adjusted the composition to fit the complete host, supervising, co-organizing and program credits.

Outcome
Delivered the final 2026 Liugui Good Market key visual poster, keeping the recognizable woodblock print tone consistent with 2024 and 2025 while adding that year's new toy prop illustrations and full organizer credits, delivered as the event's primary promotional material.
Questions people ask
about projects like this.
How do you keep an annual event's key visual recognizable as a series without repeating the same look every year?
We fix the core visual language, in this case the woodblock print illustration style and the local produce grid, then only update the content elements each year, such as that year's focus and new illustrations. Viewers recognize it as the same series at a glance while still feeling that year's fresh detail.
Beyond the poster, what other extensions does a market key visual usually need?
Depending on the event, it typically extends to wayfinding flags, social media graphics and booth identity. We reserve room for these extensions at the design stage, so the key visual stays consistent when it's applied across different materials.
